About the event
The Weihnachtsoratorium marks one of the high points of the Leipzig master’s sacred music. Composed in 1754 in celebration of the three feast days of Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and the Epiphany, this musical monument is part dazzling rejoicement, part contemplation of faith. It consists of six cantatas for soloists and choir. With the end of year holidays approaching, Jordi Savall has chosen to stage the first three. As he leads his “Le Concert des Nations” orchestra and also, for the first time, the Choir of the Capitole national opera, the great Catalan conductor proves to us yet again that he is the ideal ambassador of Baroque musical masterpieces.
